X4RACE Tool v.2.0 User Manual

Brake operation modes

X4Race handbrakes are advanced devices that offer the ability to adjust the operating mode to individual preferences and technical requirements of specific games.

Below you will find information on the three main brake modes: Analog Mode, Digital Mode and Automatic Mode.

Automatic Mode

Analog Mode

Digital Mode

Digital Mode (Keyboards)

Digital Mode allows you to simulate a keyboard key press to activate the brake. The main purpose of this mode is to provide a simple and two-state brake action, ideal for games that do not support analog mode. The process of Digital Mode is as follows:

1. Activate the Brake: When the brake lever is pulled to approximately half of its travel, the game simulates the effect of maximum wheel lockup of the vehicle.

2. Brake Release: When the brake lever is released, the vehicle wheels are completely unlocked.

This mode has no intermediate states.

Lite version

In X4RACE Tool v.2.0 Lite the brake is permanently assigned to the Space key and has a permanently set activation threshold.

Pro version

In X4RACE Tool v.2.0 Pro you have the possibility of full configuration of digital brake activation mode. See: Digital Mode Features in Pro Version

Analog Mode

Analog Mode is the preferred way to operate the brake in most simulation games. In this mode, the braking force in the game smoothly changes from 0 to 100% depending on how much the brake lever is pulled. This gives you full control over the level of braking, which is especially important in dynamic situations on the track. The operation of Analog Mode is based on the process of:

1. Applying the Brake: The more the brake lever is pulled, the greater the braking effect in the game, smoothly changing from minimum to maximum level.

2. Brake Release: Releasing the lever causes the braking effect to gradually disappear until the vehicle wheels are completely released.

Analog mode allows you to precisely adjust braking depending on your needs and enables a more realistic gaming experience.

Automatic Mode

Auto Mode is a combination of Analog and Digital Mode. In this mode, the brake works in both modes simultaneously, and the choice depends on the support and configuration of the game.

Games that support digital-only brake:

If the game supports the handbrake only in keyboard mode and it is assigned to the Space button in the control settings, the handbrake will automatically work in this mode without additional setting changes.

Games that support digital and analog brake:

If the game allows you to control the brake in both digital and analog modes, you will need to adjust the settings. Here's how:

  • If you prefer digital mode, make sure the brake is assigned to the Space button in the game settings.
  • If you choose analog mode, configure the game to work with the brake and at the same time remove the Space button assignment in the control settings.

If you do not do this, the brake will operate analogue up to the brake engagement threshold in digital mode, and then automatically switch to digital mode, immediately locking the vehicle's wheels in the game.

Automatic Mode can be especially useful for users who want to use a variety of games that do not necessarily support the same braking mode.

Brake Mode Change

Changing the brake mode on the X4Race is possible via the user interface available in the software. To change the mode, follow these steps.

1. Open the X4RACE Tool software on your computer. Get connected with brake. Click Read to read the settings saved in the device.

Mode of operation

2. In the operating mode window, check the box next to the preferred mode you want to set for your brake.

3. Click the "Save" button.

Read, Write, Reset

4. Then, to apply the changes, it is necessary to restart the brake. To do this, click the "Restart" button.

5. After restarting the brake, its operating mode will be changed according to your selection. The mode settings are saved in the internal memory of the device.

To confirm the change of operating mode, you can test the brake behavior in games or with using system tools.

Comments

  • It is possible to change the brake mode at any time, but to apply the new settings it is necessary restart devices.
  • Changing the operating mode is especially useful when the default automatic mode conflicts with the requirements of a given game.
  • The operating mode settings are stored in the brake memory, meaning there is no need to restart the software when changing modes.
