Getting Started: Calibrating FleX and Smart Series Brakes

Brake calibration (from the Smart and FleX series) is only needed when a specific game requires specific settings or when you want to customize the way the device works to your preferences. Brake calibration is done using the X4RACE Tool software, below you will find basic information about it.

How it works

The software acts as a brake electronics programmer. The program shows various buttons, sliders, options with which you can change the way the brake works (the effect of braking the vehicle in the game).

1. Pairing the brake in the program

To modify the brake settings in the program, you must connect the program to the device by selecting the appropriate COM port assigned to the brake.

See the guide on how to identify the COM port: [Search and Connect Function]

2. Read the brake settings

Click the “Read” button to have the program read and change the program settings parameters to the currently loaded brake electronics settings.

You can find more information on this topic here: [Options: Read, Write, Reset]

3. Modes of operation

The basic brake parameter that you can change using the program is the device's operating mode: Analog Mode, Digital Mode and the default active Automatic Mode. Change modes depending on your needs and preferences and personalize their settings.

Attention

  • If pulling the lever does not result in braking and the brake is set to analogue mode, change the device mode to digital - the most compatible with games.

  • It is possible to change the brake mode at any time, but to apply the new settings it is necessary restart devices.
  • Changing the operating mode is especially useful when the default automatic mode conflicts with the requirements of a given game.
  • The operating mode settings are stored in the brake memory, meaning there is no need to restart the software when changing modes.

For more information about modes, see the article: [Brake operation modes]

4. Additional settings

In addition to changing the mode, the X4RACE Tool software offers many additional options for advanced brake calibration. Changing individual parameters changes the way the device works.

If you want to see a list of articles describing individual program functions, click the button below or go to the "Software" tab in the Knowledge Base.

5. Saving settings

After making any changes, click the "Save" button. This action will confirm the modifications made and save them to the device's memory.

Attention

  • The settings are changed in live-update mode, which means that any modification of the settings in the program is immediately sent to the brake and you can immediately check the effect of its operation. This eliminates the need to click the "Save" button after each change.
  • We recommend using the "Save" button only after carefully entering the desired changes. It is a good idea to confirm the parameter settings before closing the program or before disconnecting the brake from the computer. This action ensures that you do not lose the entered settings
