Configuration Basics

All purchased X4RACE FleX brakes are pre-calibrated, tested and pre-configured, which means that after connecting to a computer, they are ready to use without any additional advanced configuration. They also do not require installing drivers. To use the device, simply connect it to a computer.

Types of calibration

Brake calibration is only needed when a specific game requires specific settings or when you want to customize the way the device works to your preferences.
There are two ways to calibrate the device: using the dedicated X4Race Handbrake Tool software in Lite and Pro versions, or using the Windows game manager.

(recommended) Calibration using X4Race Handbrake Tool

Calibration using the X4Race Tool Software consists of selecting the desired parameters, brake operation settings and uploading them directly to the mechanics, device firmware. In this way, calibrating the device results in the correct, personalized by you type of mechanics of operation on each computer to which the brake will be connected.

Calibration using the X4Race Handbrake Tool software gives you more options and its settings are more stable and durable than in the case of calibration with the Game Manager. To perform calibration, you must first install and pair the program with the brake. You can find guides on the X4Race Tool in Knowledge Base – Software.

Correct operation of analog and digital modes after calibration using the Game Manager and X4Race Tool software you can check using your computer's system tools.

Calibration using a game controller

Calibration using the game manager is the simplest type of configuration, requiring no drivers or programs to be installed. It uses the default functionality of Windows, which is the Game Manager. The calibration settings you choose are saved in the system registers, not in the brake memory, as is the case with calibration using the X4Race Handbrake Tool software. For this reason, in some situations, there may be discrepancies, e.g. in the operation of LEDs, analog mode.

To calibrate using the Game Manager, follow these steps:

  1. Start your computer and then search for “Game Controllers” using the magnifying glass tool, click on the item with the same name.
  2. In the window that opens, you will see a list of all controllers that are connected to your computer (gamepads, steering wheels, joysticks). Your brake will also be visible on the list, as it is called “X4R analog handbrake”.
  3. Click on Settings, scroll down the window until the throttle calibration window is visible.
  4. Apply and release the brake lever several times.
  5. Click finish.
